Arrive in Pakbeng in the evening and check into your hotel for an overnight stay.

Note: It is recommended to be at the Thai Immigration Border by 7:30 AM to ensure a smooth transition into Laos. If you are already in Huay Xai, we will arrange a hotel pick-up between 8:30 and 9:00 AM. The boat departs from Huay Xai no later than 9:00 AM.

In the morning, the onboard guide and chef will present a brief demonstration on how to prepare traditional Lao desserts and drinks, which you’ll have the opportunity to sample later in the day. The first stop will be at Ban Baw village, home to a blend of Hmong, Tai Lue, and Lao Lum ethnic groups, where you can observe the process of making Lao whiskey and learn more about the local culture.

After lunch on board, the cruise will proceed to the famous Pak Ou Caves, located at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Ou Rivers. These sacred caves house thousands of Buddha statues placed by devotees over the centuries. After exploring the caves, the boat will continue to Luang Prabang, arriving in the late afternoon.

Upon arrival in Luang Prabang, you will be picked up at the boat pier and transferred to your hotel for check-in. Take some time to relax and unwind before exploring this charming city. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 4: Luang Prabang City Tour (B)

After breakfast, your day begins with a visit to the National Museum located in the former Royal Palace. Here, you’ll discover a fascinating collection of artifacts that showcase the richness of Lao culture, spanning from the era of the early kings to the last sovereign. Your guided tour continues with visits to the city’s oldest temples, including Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong, known for its sweeping roofs and classical Laotian architecture.

In the afternoon, explore the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the serene shrines of Wat Aham and Wat Mai. Then, climb to the top of Mount Phousi to explore the sacred gilded stupa, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city and the Mekong River, especially at sunset.

As the day winds down, immerse yourself in the vibrant Night Market, where you can browse a delightful selection of handmade textiles crafted by local artisans and hill tribes surrounding Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 5: Luang Prabang – Khouangsi Falls (B)

For an optional early start, seize the chance to participate in the daily morning ritual of saffron-clad monks collecting alms, often in the form of sticky rice, from devoted locals. This unique tradition is a hallmark of Laos, the only Buddhist nation that still preserves this ritual.

Afterwards, you’ll have time to explore the Central Market before continuing your journey to Khouangsi Waterfall. En route, visit local villages inhabited by various Lao ethnic minority groups, including Ban Ouay, Ban Ou, Laoloum, and Ban Thapene.

Once you reach the beautiful Khouangsi Waterfall, take the opportunity to swim in its inviting pools or stroll along the tranquil forest trails that surround the falls. You will return to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon and make a stop at Ban Xangkhong, a village renowned for its silk hand weaving and traditional Saa paper making. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
