The first stop we have at Wat Pa Phon Phao, a forest temple famous for the teachings of Ajahn Saisamut. This large golden stupa contains three inside levels plus an outside terrace with a view into the countryside and Luang Prabang. The inside walls are painted with many Buddhist stories and moral admonitions. The dirt road will bring us through teakwood plantations and rice fields up the Nam Khan valley.

We pass the tomb of Henry Mouhot, the French explorer who showed Angkor Wat to the world. Henry Mohout perished of malaria in 1861 in Luang Prabang. We will continue our bike adventure through rice paddies and some forests before we arrive in our Elephant Park Project area where the Elephant Village is located. This wonderful place located 15 km from Luang Prabang along the Nam Khan river. Especially the views are astonishing… This unspoiled valley is one of the most beautiful places in the area.

Here is the place where we start our elephant ride. After crossing the small river you will be introduced to our Asian elephants and go out for a scenic ride. Enjoy the new perspective and the amazing nature on this 1 hr. elephant ride. A stunning and landscape, quietness, and the lush nature gives you a relaxed stay on the back of the protected elephant. You will make your way through small forests and along the Nam Khan river.

At the waterfall (dried out between February and August) or the river you can hang out for some swimming and bathing in the refreshing cool water. Lunch will be served either on the magnificent waterfalls or on the mountain view veranda of the Elephant Village. After a short boat ride we get back on our mountain bikes and ride back to Luang Prabang. This will take about 2 hours and takes 5 km on dirt road and 15 km on good road.

NOTE: We are working with animals and in the nature, time changes may appear at any time. (Bring shoes that can get wet, sun protection, pocket money for tips, swimsuit, towel and long trousers!” ) The waterfall is dry during February-August.
