Still an unknown world to some people, Laos is culturally the most inspiring Southeast Asia has to offer. This tour exposes the delightful city of Luang Prabang and the surrounding area. Get a peek into the fascinating Laotian hill tribe peoples lives; a few still live exactly the same way their grandparents lived! Luang Prabang is a fairy-tale like city, truly unique and like no other city in the world. You will enjoy an adventurous elephant ride, explore the intriguing caves of Pakou, and get pleasure from the beauty of the paradise setting around the Khouangsi waterfalls…


Itinerary :

Day 1: Arrival – Luang Prabang
Day 2: Luang Prabang to Pak Ou Cave

Day 1 – Luang Prabang Adventure Travel Packages: Arrival – Luang Prabang Sightseeing Tours

On arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. After a short rest, we visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham and Wat Mai. We then climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. From there, we explore the Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by the hilltribe and local people surrounding Luang Prabang.

Day 2 – Luang Prabang Adventure Travel Packages: Luang Prabang Adventure Tours – Pak Ou Cave Sightseeing package tour (B/-/-)

Today, we enjoy a short-guided tour seeing the city’s oldest temples of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture.

We then embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside as well as exploring the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by devoted pilgrims.

Along the way, we will stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where the local rice wine is produced. On return, we take a short drive to another small village Ban Phanom, which famous for its hand weaving.

Day 3 – Luang Prabang Adventure Travel Packages: Luangprabang Adventure Tours – Khouangsi Waterfalls  Culture tours (B/-/-)

An optional early start gives you the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collecting offerings of Alms (often in the form of sticky rice) from the faithful residents. This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving the ritual.

From there you will visit the morning Phousi Market, where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings. Laos is also known for its traditional crafts, and today you will visit local villages of Lao ethnic minority groups at Ban Ouay, a Hmong village, Ban Ou, Laoloum Village and Ban Thapene, all Khmu villages.

This then takes us to the beautiful Khouangsi Waterfall where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the pools or walk along the forest trails. After returning to Luang Prabang by late afternoon, we continue to Ban Xangkhong, a village well known for its silk weavings and for its Saa (jute) Papermaking. We return to the city by late evening to admire the sunset at Wat Siphouthabath.

Day 4 – Luang Prabang Adventure Travel Packages:  Luang Prabang Adventure Tours – Lao Elephant + Rafting Tours ( B/L/-)

This is a full day trip combining a rafting tour out of town with some sightseeing and an exciting elephant ride to/from Tad Sae Waterfall (or alternative route in dry season). After pick up from your Hotel (8:30-9:00 a.m) we proceed to the Adventure and Elephant camp located 15 km out of town in the middle of unspoilt, natural green surroundings.

After crossing the small river you are introduced to our Asian Elephants and venture on a 1hr – 1hr 30 mins scenic journey through forests, plantations and fields. This activity programe provides you with a breathtaking and unique experience as you make your way through the forests and along the Nam Khan River up to the waterfalls of Tad Sae. (In dry season we ride a village trail) After visiting the waterfall, lunch is served before a relaxing 30 minute rafting tour along the river back to the resort.

Day 5 – Luang Prabang Adventure Travel Packages: Luang Prabang Adventure Tours – Lao Spirit Resort – Luang Prabang – Departure (B/-/-)

After breakfast, we transfer to back to Luang Prabang town Today we visit the National Museum (closed Tuesdays) at the former Royal Palace.  It displays a collection of artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early kings right through to the last sovereign. There will also be time for us to look around the Central Market. After visiting these sights in the morning, there may be free time (depending on your flight) to venture into town and stroll around the shopping area. The tour ends after your transfer to the airport for departure.
