Northeast Overland tour in Cambodia brings you a chance to explore special parts of Cambodia that especially are Phnom Penh and Banlung province, Kratie & Kampong cham. On this trip, tourists will be guided to visit Dolphin Observation Park in Kratie, minority villages in Ban Lung then experience the homestay services there, finally move to Rubber & Pepper Plantations in Kampong cham…

Day 1 – Northeast Cambodia Overland Expedition: Phnom Penh Package Tours – Kratie (-/-/-)

After breakfast drive from Phnom Penh to Kratie The provincial capital of KRATIE is a pleasant, small riverside town on the banks of the Mekong River. Visit the DOLPHIN OBSERVATION PARK located just north of town and enjoy an hour-long boat trip past peaceful rural scenery as you watch out for a rare sighting of one of the 50 endangered Irrawaddy freshwater dolphins that inhabit this strech of the river. On the way back, stop at WAT PHNOM SAMBOK.

Day 2 – Northeast Cambodia Overland Expedition: Kratie – Banlung (B/-/-)

After breakfast drive from Kratie to Banlung. Overnight in Banlung.

Day 3 – Northeast Cambodia Overland Expedition: Banlung (B/-/-)

From Banlung, travel by 4WD to Ta Veang and visit many of the different minority villages in the area. Groups include the Jarai, Tumpoun, Krueng, Kra Chok and Kavet.Overnight in Banlung.

Day 4 – Northeast Cambodia Overland Expedition: Banlung Homestay Package Tours (B/-/-)

Excursion to Veun Sai with boat trip. Travel by 4WD to Veun Sai, a Toumpoun village with a particularly impressive cemetary. Time permitting, visit a Kreung village as well before returning to Banlung.
Overnight in Banlung.

Day 5 – Northeast Cambodia Overland Expedition: Banlung (B/-/-)

After breakfast from Banlung, travel by 4WD to the village of Andoung Meas and embark on a boat to Phoum Dal or another Jarai village. The Jarai are an ethnic minority who dwell in traditional stilt houses.

Their beliefs are polytheistic and they follow elabroate funerary customs, carving fascinating funerary totems out of wood. After exploring the village, enjoy a picnic lunch on the riverbanks and return to Banlung by boat and 4WD.
Overnight in Banlung.

Day 6 – Northeast Cambodia Overland Expedition: Banlung – Kampong Cham (B/-/-)

After breakfast drive from Banlung to Kampong Cham Travel southwards via Chhlong, stopping to visit RUBBER and PEPPER PLANTATIONS enroute. Time permitting, visit PRASAT PREY NOKOR or PRASAT KNONG PRASAT KRAEAW (this visit depends on road conditions at the time of travel).

Day 7 – Northeast Cambodia Overland Expedition: Kampong Cham – Phnom Penh (B/-/-)

Kampong Cham is a lively port on the banks of the Mekong River with some good examples of colonial-era architecture. After visting the LOCAL MARKET and exploring the town, travel in to the countryside to PHNOM PROS (“Man Hill”) and PHNOM SREI (“Woman Hill”).

According to local tradition, two teams of men and women competed to build a stupa on the summit of each hill before dawn. After being tricked into thinking that daybreak had already come, the men lost the competition and, as a result, forever after had to be the ones to approach the women for their hands in marriage. Continue to WAT NOKOR, a thriving modern-day monstery founded on a 11th century Mahayana Buddhist shrine. Then drive from Kampong Cham to Phnom Penh.
