Start biking to Ba Be National Park

Day 2 – Vietnam Cycling Tour to Ba Be, Ban Gioc, Dong Van, Sapa : Hanoi cycling tour to Thai Nguyen and then Ba Be (B/L/D)

We pick you up from hotel then depart for Ba Be national park via Thai Nguyen, province of tea plantation. Visit some tea hills along the way in Giang Tien town. Then continue the road trip to reach to Dinh Hoa for lunch. After that, keep going to Ba Be lake via Bac Kan province.

Stop in Cho Ra market to see how is rural market. Arrival in Pac Ngoi hamlet at 4.30, a traditional village of Tay people, and started our kayak trip early the next morning. Pac Ngoi village has around 40 traditional houses located right beside fields and the river edge. Staying in the house, we can listen to the rhythm of the Nang river right beside the house and smell all the fresh air.

Dwelling in the rugged mountains of Northern Vietnam, the Tay are the largest of Vietnam’s minority groups. They came south from China centuries ago, though an estimated 100,000 still live in China. Their appearance and dress are striking. They have been considered one of the most physically attractive people groups in the region. Their villages are typically at the foot of a mountain or near a stream. You will have a chance to enjoy the delicious dinner by Tay woman.

Day 3 – Vietnam Cycling Tour to Ba Be, Ban Gioc, Dong Van, Sapa : Boat trip on Ba Be Lake (B/L/D)

It is a good chance for early riser to enjoy the very fresh atmosphere with very green forest, river, lake, rice fields… After breakfast, take the boat trip to the Ba Be Lake then reach to the Dau Dang waterfall, the 100m, and three-level waterfall makes the scenery even more magnificent. After coming back to our canoes, it took us about 40 minutes to get to Ba Be Lake.

Have the picnic lunch here with a local family. Then continue the boating trip along the Nang River to get to “Dong Puong” cave. Visit the villages & school of the Tay ethnic people located along the river then back to Pac Ngoi hamlet for relax and dinner.

Cao Bang: Ban Gioc Waterfall

Wake up early to visit the local market to see how the local people trading. After the breakfast, driver to Ban Gioc, visit the waterfall. On this day you’ll take scenic in insightful day trip north of Cao Bang to the beautiful Ban Gioc waterfall on the Chinese border. This picturesque, cascading waterfall is 53 meters high and has an impressive span of 300 meters.

The waterfall falls thirty meters. It is separated into three falls by rocks and trees, and the thundering effect of the water hitting the cliffs can be heard kilometers away from Trung Khanh. The drive their offers unique landscapes, limestone karts formations soar from the verdant rice paddies of the surrounding farms of local ethnic minorities. Along the way, you’ll see Tay, Hmong and Dzao ethnic minority groups. Heading back to Cao Bang, stop to explore the expansive 2,144 meter Nguom Ngao Cavern to discover its brilliant stalactites.

Dong Van: Flowers on Plateau

Day 5 – Vietnam Cycling Tour to Ba Be, Ban Gioc, Dong Van, Sapa : Cao Bang Biking trips to Ha Giang (B/L/D)

After breakfast, our driver will take you to Ha Giang. The scenery is spectacular and the road runs along the sides of the mountains on the way. You will visit the Meo Vac Meo which has most of the terrain in the Rock Plateau of Dong Van and above 1000m above sea level.

The road from Meo Vac Town to Dong Van Town is 23km which is via the sublime beauty of Ma Pi Leng Pass. Meo Vac is inhabited by different ethnic minorities including the H’mong, the King, Tay, Dzao…. You’ll continue your journey onto the nearby village of the Lo Lo minority.

Day 6 – Vietnam Cycling Tour to Ba Be, Ban Gioc, Dong Van, Sapa : Ha Giang Cycling tours to Dong Van (B/L/D)

After breakfast, you will visit the small communities of Quan Ba, Yen Minh and Dong Van, some of the most picturesque villages in the northern tip of Vietnam. The scenery is spectacular – a vast limestone mountain range and perpendicular walls of rock. You’ll call in at the infamous Vuong Palace Vuong’s Palace is home to Vuong Duc Chinh and his son Vuong Chi Sinh. Vuong Duc Chinh was a mandarin under Nguyen Dynasty.

He worked for Hoang Tu Binh, a land lord in the area. Vuong Chinh Duc succeeded Tu Hoang Binh when Binh were old. Over a long time of wars, many of the architecture works around were completely dissolved, but the King is still there, not a piece of bombs, bullets which fell into. There are opinions that the palace is located between the small valley, surrounded by a rocky mountain with sheer cliffs.

Bullets were either stoped by this side or otherwise missed to the other side of the valley. At the back of the building are two horizontal rows on the two sides, linked together by doors. To protect his mansion. Vuong Chinh Duc also built stone walls with holes and post for his men to guard all day and night.

From there you drive to Dong Van town where your guide will show you its charming ‘Old Streets’ near the market. After lunch, a scenic route will take you to the Ma Pi Leng Pass, which weaves its way like a silver ribbon through limestone ravines.

The pass’ peak is aptly named Cong Troi (Heaven’s Gate), and is the best place to enjoy a panoramic view of the valley below, particularly on a late afternoon when you can see a beautiful sunset overlooking the river. from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Nho Que River – with luck you might see one of the northeast’s stunning sunsets.

A morning trip will take you to the Nam Hong village, home to the Red Dzao ethnic minority group. Your journey will take you through the scenic valleys where you can expect to see views of the faraway mountains and the terrace rice fields. Your guide will prepare lunch for you at a local family. After lunch, you’ll drive to Pan Hou and embark for Ha Giang, your route will take you through mountainous landscapes and striking scenery.

Bac Ha: The Market on Sunday

Day 8 – Vietnam Cycling Tour to Ba Be, Ban Gioc, Dong Van, Sapa : Hoang Su Phi Cycling tour to Bac Ha (B/L/D)

Our driver takes you to Bac Ha town- which you visit a big market filled with many different hill-tribe peoples. This is the most colourful market in North Vietnam. At the market, you have chance to enjoy Bac Ha people’s simple but unique kinds of food with special wines made from rice, cassavas, corn and different sorts of fruits such as plumps, apples, peaches… talking to the minorities through the guide’s interpretation.

In the afternoon, our guide take you for walk to Thai Giang Pho Village of the flower H’mong and the Nung, visiting one school, and trekking by the side of the the highest mountain in Bac Ha through the beautiful plumb gardens before another visit to the palace of the H’mong King that built in 1921. It is a unique construction work, which harmonies the Oriental and Western architectural styles.

Its owner was Hoang Yen Chao of Tay origin. He was the father of Hoang A Tuong, a tribal mandarin under the domination of the French colonialists. In front of its arched doors are earthen banks. Occupying a pivotal position overlooking the Bac Ha valley, the castle serves both as the residence of Hoang Yen Chao, then Hoang A Tuong and as a fortress.

Its network of walls, bunkers, and battlements were reinforced by a mortar mixed with sugar molasses. In a distance, the white castle jutting out from the valley looks imposing and majestic.

Day 9 – Vietnam Cycling Tour to Ba Be, Ban Gioc, Dong Van, Sapa : Bac Ha Town biking tours to Ham Rong and then Cat Cat Village (B/L/D)

After breakfast, our driver will transfer to Sapa town. Our guide will take you short trek to Cat Cat village, the village of H’mong tribe in the valley, which remains very generally uncorrupted outside forces. Excellent views of the valley, the magnificent limestone and paddy fields of H’mong village. Enjoy some visits to local families and reach their customs.

After the village down into the valley, the Cat Cat waterfall will be visible. Visitors to Cat Cat Village can discover countless unique features of H’Mong people. A “White curtain” cascade appears, surrounded by flowery valley and deep-green pines. The rocks near the river and waterfall provide a marvelous place for picturesque photos and sunbathing during good weather…

Our guide will take you to visit Coc Ly market which is situated far from Sapa, a colorful Tuesday market in a mountainous area where ethnic people gather to buy and sell goods, dine and drink, or just wander to enjoy the ambience of the montagnard market by the Chay River.

Enjoy the peaceful life of 6 different minority peoples (Flower H’mong, Black Dzao, Tay, Dzay, Ha Nhi and Nung). The market is the chance for the minorities to meet and share joy and sorrows after the crops, to exchange one another’s experience. Say goodbye to the market and get down onto a boat along Chay River. You are bound to feel great and find yourselves smaller among high rock mountains and to be surprised at white and breathtakingly waterfalls.

Get off the boat to visit a village of the Tay Minority (Trung Do village) by the river. Then turn back to Lao Cai and take night train back to Hanoi.
